70 years ago...
John Mpakarakes, began a family business that has been carried through three generations. He and his wife Maria came to New Jersey from their native Greece and proudly opened their mom-and-pop general store called The Denville Market.
When John retired, his son Tom Mpakarakes continued the tradition of The Denville Market and expanded the business, renaming it J&M Gourmet Foods, after his parents; John & Maria. 35 years later when Tom retired, his sister Vasileke (Betty) Mpakarakes Kelly took the reigns and to this day continues the J&M tradition of quality gourmet fruit and cheese gift baskets.
This year J&M Gourmet is celebrating its 70th year in business in Denville. Mary, the matriarch has taken a back seat from the business, but at 92 she is still the boss and going strong. The entire Mpakarakes/Kelly family wishes to express our many thanks for all your love and support over the past 70 years and looks forward to continuing to serve you with quality products and a personal touch.
